Find your annual kWh usage
Check your most recent bills or smart meter readings for annual electricity + gas usage in kWh. The Ofgem cap typical-usage benchmark is 2,700 kWh elec + 11,500 kWh gas.
Identify your Ofgem region
Standing charges and unit rates vary by region. London has the cheapest standing charges; North Scotland the most expensive electricity unit rate.
Compare cap vs fixed deals
The cap is a ceiling, not a tariff. Fixed deals can be cheaper or pricier than the cap depending on wholesale market conditions.
