What changed with UK Stamp Duty in 2024-2025?
Three changes: (1) Additional Property Surcharge raised from 3% to 5% on 31 October 2024 (England/NI). (2) Standard nil-rate threshold reverted from £250k to £125k from 1 April 2025. (3) First-time buyer threshold reverted from £425k to £300k. Scotland ADS raised to 8% on 5 December 2024.

UK Stamp Duty / LBTT / LTT changes 2024-2025. October 2024 Budget: SDLT Additional Property Surcharge raised from 3% to 5% (England/NI, effective 31 October 2024). £250k 2nd home was £10k → now £20k. April 2025 reversion (England/NI): zero-rate threshold dropped from £250k back to £125k. 2% band returns at £125k-£250k. First-time buyer relief: zero-rate threshold from £425k to £300k; max eligible price from £625k to £500k. £400k FTB property: 2024/25 £0 → from April 2025 £5,000 (5% on £100k above £300k). Scotland (LBTT): ADS raised from 6% to 8% from 5 December 2024. Wales (LTT): no changes for 2025/26.
