Full answer
From April 2024, the High Income Child Benefit Charge (HICBC) threshold was raised to £60,000 (from £50,000). The charge is 1% of child benefit for every £200 of income above £60,000, fully withdrawing at £80,000. Crucially, the charge now applies to each parent individually (not jointly), so a couple where both earn £59,000 would not be affected even though combined income is £118,000.
