What is Eye Test and Voucher Benefit?
A tax exemption for employer-paid eye tests and corrective glasses needed for display screen work.
Full Definition
An employer can pay for an employee's eye and eyesight test, and for the cost of glasses or contact lenses needed specifically for display screen equipment work, without creating a taxable Benefit-in-Kind — provided the employee is legally required to have a test under health and safety rules and the benefit is available to all employees who need it. Employer-funded eye care that goes beyond what's needed for screen work (for example, general glasses unrelated to VDU use) does not qualify for this specific exemption.
