What is Council Tax Reduction (Scotland)?
The Scottish means-tested scheme that reduces council tax bills for low-income households.

Council Tax Reduction (CTR) is Scotland's devolved, means-tested scheme for reducing a household's council tax bill, replacing the old UK-wide Council Tax Benefit. Applications are made through the local council and the reduction depends on income, savings, household composition and who else lives in the property; it can reduce a bill to zero for households on the lowest incomes. England and Wales run their own separate local Council Tax Support/Reduction schemes, so the rules and generosity can differ from Scotland's.
