Count alcohol units and calories in any drink based on NHS unit guidelines.
Pick the drink type
Select beer, wine, spirits, cider, fortified wine or other. Each has typical ABV defaults you can override if the bottle shows differently.
Choose the serving size
Pick pint, half, small/medium/large glass, single/double, or enter custom ml. The calculator uses standard UK measures by default (175 ml medium glass, 25 ml single spirit).
Adjust the ABV
Override the default ABV% to match your specific drink. Craft beers often hit 5-8%; supermarket wines 12-14%; spirits 37.5-45%. ABV is on every label.
Add to weekly total
Log multiple drinks to build a weekly running total. The calculator shows units consumed, alcohol-free days needed, and distance to the 14-unit guideline.
Check calories and cost
See the calorie burden (each unit is roughly 56 kcal from ethanol alone) and approximate spend. Useful when combined with the Calorie Calculator for weight management.
